When we think about who we are, we typically think about very superficial and temporary things: Where we’re from, what we have, what we look like, our hobbies, our favorite sports team, etc. But if all of these things were taken away, you’d still be you. There is a part of you that will always be you no matter what, and that’s your soul. Your soul is the you that’s still you even after everything you have on earth is gone. Jesus said that you shall love the Lord your God with all your soul. The deepest truest part of you is meant to love God. And when you are living for God, you can see a glimpse of your very best self, the “you” you were always meant to be.

Bible Verses:

  • Mark 12:30 – Love God with all your soul.
  • Psalm 42:1-2 – Your Soul Longs for God.
  • Matthew 10:28 – Only God has power over your soul.
  • John 11:25 – Life after death.
  • Ephesians 2:10 – God made you for a purpose.

Family Time Questions:

  • What are some earthly ways we describe ourselves?
  • Why is your soul the “real you”?
  • What does it mean to love God with all your soul?
  • Why do you think Jesus wants us to love God with our souls?

Prayer:

“Dear God, please help me to love You with all my soul. Help me to honor you with all that I am. Help me to be the very best “me” that I can be by walking with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
