People seem to think that hatred is a good way to show love. It’s really, really not. Hating people who don’t like Christmas is a TERRIBLE way to show your support for Christmas! And hating people who don’t believe in God is a TERRIBLE way to show God that we love Him. Sometimes it’s foolish to fight over what we like because what we like is not that big of a deal (like which flavor of ice cream you think is best). But even if something is a big deal (like believing in Jesus Christ) it’s never good or helpful to hate. If you love Christmas, show it by loving Christmas, not by hating those who don’t. and if you love Jesus, show it by loving Him and those he loves (which is everyone!). Choose love this Christmas and never forget that Jesus is the reason for the season!

Bible Verses:

  • Luke 2:11 – The Reason for the Season
  • 1 John 4:7-8 – Love One Another
  • Luke 6:27-28 – Love Your Enemies
  • Romans 12:18 – Live Peaceably
  • 1 Peter 3:15-16 – Gentleness and Respect

Family Time Questions:

  • Why is it important to show love, even to those who disagree with us?
  • How can we respond to people who have different beliefs about Christmas or God?
  • Why is hating others never the right response, according to the Bible?
  • How can we share the love of Jesus with everyone, especially during Christmas?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for the gift of Jesus at Christmas. Help us to be good, not just for presents, but to show our thanks for all You’ve done for us. Teach us to live in Your grace and to spread Your love and goodness to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
