Take up the Shield of Faith by knowing what you believe and why you believe it! If you hold fast to the truth of Jesus Christ, then you will be able to put out the flaming arrows of the evil one. And the faith we have in Jesus is not just “blind faith,” there are so many reasons to believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior.

The Bible says that if you believe (have faith) in Jesus, then you not perish but have everlasting life. Satan wants you to doubt what you believe so that you won’t be as effective in the spiritual battle that we’re all in. That’s why it’s so important to have your own faith. And by “your own faith” we’re definitely not talking about making up your own religion, but, instead, that you would learn about Jesus for yourself and believe in Him because YOU believe in Him, not just because your parents or teachers, or friends do. The faith of others can help you, but in the end, you need your own faith.

“Shield of Faith” Bible Verses:

  • Hebrews 11:1 | Faith is believing in something you cannot see.
  • John 3:16 | Belief in Jesus gives us eternal life.
  • Ephesians 6:16 | Satan will throw doubts at us like flaming arrows.
  • Genesis 3:1 | Satan’s first words in the Bible were, “Did God really say…”
  • Ephesians 6:11 | Take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

“Shield of Faith” Family Time Questions:

What does it mean to have “your own faith”?

• Why is it so important to have your own faith?

What are some ways that Satan tries to get us to abandon our faith?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for all that you’ve done for me. Help me to hold on to my faith in you, so that I can extinguish the flaming arrows of Satan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
