During the vision John received and recorded in the Book of Revelation, he saw a scroll that was sealed shut with seven seals. In all of heaven and earth, only Jesus is worthy to break the seals and open that scroll. The events that unfold when Jesus breaks each seal line up perfectly with what Jesus said in the Olivet Discourse when He told his disciples what to expect during the end times. Sometimes it feels like things are pretty bad, but they will get much worse before the end. But, no matter what happens, we don’t need to fear, because through it all, Jesus is in control and He will make all things new!

Bible Verses:

  • Revelation 5:1-5 – The Scroll and the Lamb
  • Revelation 6:1-17 – The Opening of the Seals
  • Matthew 24:3-8 – The Olivet Discourse Parallels
  • Revelation 21:5 – Making All Things New
  • John 16:33 – Jesus Has Overcome the World

Family Time Questions:

  • Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?
  • How do the events of the seven seals relate to what Jesus taught in the Olivet Discourse?
  • In what ways does the world already seem pretty bad?
  • In what ways will they get worse?
  • How can we find comfort in knowing that Jesus is in control?

Prayer:

“Dear Lord, thank you for your plan. Please, give us peace and strength, knowing that You have overcome the world and will make all things new. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
