If you try to make your own “Jesus” it will let you down every time. Jesus is real, He is alive, and He is God. That means that we can’t choose what He is, what He thinks, or what He says. We need to follow Christ instead of trying to make Him follow us and our own beliefs or preferences. If you want the power, fulfillment, love, joy, peace, and all of the fruit of the spirit that come from following Christ, you need the real Jesus. There is no substitute.

Bible Verses About the Real Jesus:

  • John 10:30 | Jesus is God.
  • Deuteronomy 32:4 | God is perfect.
  • Romans 3:23 | We are not perfect.
  • Matthew 7:7-8 | Those who truly look for Jesus will find Him.
  • John 10:28 | Eternal life comes from Jesus.

Family Time Questions About the Real Jesus:

• What does it mean to follow Jesus?

• What does “making your own Jesus” look like?

• Why can’t we really make our own Jesus?

• What comes from following the real Jesus?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for being who you are. Please help me to follow you instead of trying to make my own version of you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
