Jesus is the last sacrifice for sin that we will ever need. Instead of making sacrifices over and over again for sin, Jesus made one sacrifice that was once for all. And His sacrifice demands a sacrifice from us. We must surrender the idea that we can save ourselves. It’s only through Jesus Christ that we can have eternal life. Only Jesus can save us. There’s nothing that we can do in our own power to earn or deserve salvation. Letting go of control is hard, we want to do things for ourselves. But the only way to heaven is to believe in Jesus Christ and accept the free gift made possible by the last sacrifice.

Bible Verses:

  • Hebrews 10:11-12 | Jesus’ once-for-all sacrifice.
  • Ephesians 2:8-9 | Salvation is a gift.
  • John 14:6 | Jesus is the way.
  • John 3:16 | Believe in Jesus for eternal life.
  • Isaiah 53:5 | By His wounds we are healed.

Family Time Questions:

  • Why is Jesus called the last sacrifice?
  • How does Jesus’ sacrifice differ from the old sacrifices?
  • Why can’t we save ourselves from our sins?
  • What must you do to have eternal life?
  • How does it feel to know that we can’t earn our way to heaven but have to rely on Jesus?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus as the final and perfect sacrifice for our sins. It’s hard to let go and not rely on ourselves, but we want to put our faith fully in You. Thank you for giving us the gift of eternal life through Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
