Douglas recently learned that bunnies are part of the celebration of Easter because bunnies sort of represent life, and on Easter, we’re celebrating that Jesus is alive! Douglas also recently learned that bunnies are sort of like superheroes because you just can’t get rid of them. A long time ago, there were no bunnies in Australia. Then a man brought 24 rabbits from England because he missed hunting rabbits. Within 60 years, those 24 rabbits turned into 10 BILLION RABBITS. And the bunnies were causing a lot of problems, so the Australian government tried all sorts of things to get rid of them, but they just couldn’t, and there are still tons of rabbits in Australia today.

When Jesus was walking around and telling people the Good News, this caused a lot of problems for the religious leaders of the time, so they tried all sorts of things to discredit Jesus or get rid of Him, but none of them worked. They even KILLED Jesus, but even death couldn’t stop Him, because He rose again from the dead three days later! And Jesus’ death and resurrection is what we celebrate on Easter. Jesus is WAY more powerful than bunnies, but the next time you see a rabbit, I hope that you’ll remember that you can’t stop Jesus Christ!

Easter Bible Verses:

  • Matthew 20:18-19 | The plan
  • Mark 16:1-6 | He is risen!
  • Romans 6:8-11 | Jesus conquered death
  • John 14:1-3 | Jesus is preparing a place for us
  • 1 Peter 1:3 | Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
  • 1 Corinthians 15:20 | The firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep

Easter Family Time Questions:

• What do Jesus and the Easter Bunny have in common?

• Are bunnies as unstoppable as Jesus?

• Is there anything or anyone that can beat God?

• What was the Good News that Jesus was telling people that made the religious leaders mad?

• Should we also tell that Good News?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus. Help me to share the Good News with everyone you send my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
