The Day of the Lord is a future event where God will pour out his wrath on the earth. The plagues that God sends during this time will be unlike anything that’s ever happened or will ever happen again. It will be a time of punishment both for the world and for those of God’s people who have turned their backs on Him. God has not destined us for wrath, so let’s live for Him and put behind us the sins because of which this time of judgment is coming.

Bible Verses:

  • Joel 2:31 – The Great and Terrible Day of the Lord
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 – Sudden destruction
  • 2 Peter 3:10 – Like a thief in the night
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:9 – Not destined for wrath
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 – The Man of Lawlessness comes first

Family Time Questions:

  • What do we know about the Day of the Lord from these verses?
  • Why is the Day of the Lord coming?
  • When is the Day of the Lord coming?
  • How can we prepare ourselves for the Day of the Lord?
  • Why is it important to live for God and turn away from sin?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank you for your plan for us and for the world. Please help us to honor you in how we live. Help us to be ready for your return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
