Moses was born during a difficult time in Israel’s history. The Hebrew people had been slaves in Egypt for hundreds of years, but the birth of Moses marked the beginning of God’s plan to save His people. However, were it not for the courage of some very brave women and one very brave little girl, Moses might have never had the opportunity to grow up to lead God’s people out of Egypt. The Hebrew midwives, Moses’ mother Jochebed, Moses’ sister Miriam, and Pharaoh’s daughter all did what they knew was right even when it was dangerous for them. God can use even what feels like a small act of courage to do very big things. There’s so much to learn from the story of the birth of Moses.
Bible Verses:
- Exodus 1 – Pharaoh oppresses Israel
- Exodus 2:1-10 – The Birth of Moses
Family Time Questions:
- How were the women in this story courageous?
- What are some ways that we can be courageous?
- How can you tell when you should do as you’re told and when you shouldn’t?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for Your love for Your people. Please help us to be courageous in doing what is right. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
