The very fact that the Bible still exists is a good reason to trust it. People have been trying to get rid of the Bible for a LONG time, but they can’t! It is no coincidence that the Bible endures even though so many people throughout history have tried to destroy it. Jesus said that God’s word will never pass away, and, though it has had many opponents, not only is the Bible still around, but it’s still the most influential book ever written.

Many have tried to destroy the Bible completely, there was even a Roman emperor who thought he had done it! But there are so many copies of the Bible now that it would be pretty much impossible to even try to physically destroy it at this point, so, instead, some have tried to destroy the Bible through other means. Many famous, atheistic leaders and philosophers have claimed that they would destroy the Bible by making it irrelevant, and yet, here it is, still going strong (while many of those leaders and philosophers are long gone!). The fact that the Bible endures, even with such determined opposition, helps to prove that it really is inspired (and protected!) by God.

Bible Verses:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16 | The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
  • Deuteronomy 6:4 | There is only one God.
  • Isaiah 44:9-10 | Other so-called gods are not real.
  • 1 Peter 1:24-25 | God’s Word can never really be destroyed.
  • Hebrews 4:12 | God’s Word changes lives.
  • John 17:17 | The Bible is the truth.

Family Time Questions:

Why do people want to destroy the Bible?

 Why can’t they?

• How does the fact that the Bible still exists help us know that we can trust the Bible?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us the Bible. Thank you for protecting Scripture, and please help me to stand for the Truth in love.
