We need the armor of God to help protect us from the Devil’s schemes. It’s not made of steel or iron, it’s spiritual. And though it is spiritual armor, that doesn’t mean it’s magical; you can’t just “summon” it. The way you live your life acts as armor and will help you to take your stand in this spiritual battle we all face every day.

Here’s a list of what the armor of God is and how you can “put it on”:

1. The Belt of Truth – Speak what is true (in love) and don’t be dishonest.

2. The Breastplate (body armor) of Righteousness – Do what is right.

3. Shoes of Gospel-Readiness – Always be ready to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

4. The Shield of Faith – Know what you believe and why you believe it.

5. The Helmet of Salvation – The most important piece of armor. You need Jesus to save you from your sins.

6. The Sword of the Spirit – Know what your Bible says and how to use it properly.

Bible Verses:

  • 1 Peter 5:8-9 | Satan is our enemy.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 | Our battle is spiritual.
  • Ephesians 6:10-20 | The armor of God.
  • Romans 8:26-27 | Strengthen your armor through prayer.

Family Time Questions:

Why do you need the armor of God?

• How can you “put on” the armor of God?

Who is our real enemy? (And who is NOT our enemy?)

Prayer:

Dear God, help me to put on the full armor of God. Help me to live my life in a way that will help me to stand and fight in this spiritual battle. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
