There’s just something about Christmas that feels so nice and happy and cozy. But, if your focus is on the stuff instead of the Savior, as soon as Christmas is over, that Christmas feeling is often replaced with sadness and emptiness. Never forget that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ. We can celebrate His coming all year round!

If you get super sad when Christmas is over, that might be a sign to you that your focus is not in the right place. It’s OK to like the decorations and gifts and all that, but it’s not what Christmas is all about. Instead, those things are meant to help us remember what really is important, and that is the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. If your focus is on the stuff, when Christmas is over, you have nothing left, and you have to wait until next year. But if your focus is on the Savior, then once Christmas is over, you still have the most important part of Christmas! Jesus isn’t just our savior at Christmas or Easter, He’s our Savior all day every day all the time forever! Let’s celebrate the birth of our Savior!

“That Christmas Feeling” Bible Verses:

  • Matthew 1:18-2:12 | The birth of Jesus in the book of Matthew
  • Luke 2:1-20 | The birth of Jesus in the book of Luke
  • John 3:16-17 | The true meaning of Christmas.

“That Christmas Feeling” Family Time Questions:

  • What’s the most important part of Christmas?
  • Is all the other Christmas stuff bad? When might it become bad for us?
  • Why can we celebrate Jesus all year round?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for the Gift of your Son, Jesus. Help me to remember what’s most important this Christmas. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
