If Jesus is living in your heart, that means that your body is Jesus’ home. Take good care of Jesus’ house!

Douglas is at soccer practice, and he is EXHAUSTED. This isn’t his first time playing soccer, and at the end of their last season, Douglas’ coach told all the boys that they need to keep eating right and exercising. Douglas did not follow those instructions. Instead, he just sat around during the whole off-season, watching TV and eating cheese puffs. Now he can barely breathe when he has to run laps around the field! In church, we often talk about taking care of our hearts and our souls, but we don’t as often talk about taking care of our bodies. The Bible says that after we’re saved, Jesus lives in our hearts. We are God’s temple, His house. And if you’re God’s house, then you should be taking good care of yourself! We can take care of our bodies by eating good foods and exercising, and by not filling them with bad things. God loves you, and He wants you to take good care of yourself!

“Taking Good Care of Yourself” Bible Verses:

  • 1 Corinthians 3:16 | You are God’s temple
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 | Honor God with your bodies
  • Romans 12:1 | True and proper worship
  • Mark 12:30 | Heart, soul, mind, and strength

Taking Good Care of Yourself” Family Time Questions:

  • What does it mean to be God’s temple?
  • What are some things that you can avoid that are bad for your body?
  • What are some things that you can do to stay healthy?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your love for me and for living in my heart. Help me to take good care of your temple. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
