Douglas’ mom gave him a space in the garden for him to grow whatever he wanted. He decided to plant some flowers, and after a lot of time and hard work, he had some beautiful flowers to share! He gave one to his mom, one to his dad, one to his teacher, and even one to his dog Rosco. Everyone was very appreciative, except for Rosco, who totally destroyed his flower. Douglas was super upset that he had spent the time to grow this flower for Rosco, but then Rosco thanked him by ripping it to pieces. God calls us to take care of the world He gave us, and we can do that by:

  • Recycling – Some of the garbage we make can be reused! You can recycle by either making something new from something you would normally throw away, or even just putting your recyclables (paper, plastic, cardboard) in the recycling bin instead of the trash can.
  • Not wasting resources – Every time we turn on the water or anything electronic in our homes, we’re using resources. Let’s not waste them!
  • Not littering – It might not seem like a big deal to throw a candy wrapper out the car window, but it can sure pile up! Throw your garbage in the trash can, not on the ground.
  • And so much more! – What are some other ideas you can think of to take care of the world God gave us?

“Take Care of the World God Gave Us” Bible Verses:

  • Genesis 1:26 | Dominion over the whole earth
  • Genesis 2:15 | Mankind’s first job
  • Proverbs 12:10 | Regard for the life of his beast

Take Care of the World God Gave Us” Family Time Questions:

  • Why should we take care of the world?
  • What are some ways that you can take care of the world?
  • Can you think of any clever ways that you could recycle?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for the wonderful world you gave us. Help me to do my part to take care of the Earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
