It’s very important to God that we serve others and not just seek to be served ourselves. Douglas learns that it’s more important to help others than to be important ourselves. Jesus’ disciples wanted Jesus to tell them which one of them was the most important, and Jesus replied that if any of them wanted to be great, they must be the servant of all. Jesus set a great example for them and for us because even though He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, He humbled Himself and served others. Let’s all follow His example and put the needs of others before our own!

“Serving Others” Bible Verses:

  • Mark 9:35 | The first must be last
  • John 13:1-17 | Jesus washes his disciples’ feet
  • 1 Peter 4:10-11 | Use your gifts to serve others
  • Galatians 6:9 | Keep it up!

“Serving Others” Family Time Questions:

• Who is the most important person ever?

• What example of service did Jesus show us?

• Are we supposed to literally wash peoples’ feet?

• What are some ways that we can serve others?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your incredible example of service. Please help me to serve others and not put myself above them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
