If you want to find God, just look! Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” If you want God’s presence in your life, it’s as simple as ask, seek, knock. A great place to find God is in Scripture. The Bible is called God’s word, so it’s a great place to learn more about Him. But, the truth is, God can be found everywhere! That doesn’t mean that anything you find is God, far from it. God is who He is no matter what, and there is only One True God. If you go looking for a god of your own design, you will “find” it, though, really, that’s just making up a god. And a made-up god can’t help you. But if you truly seek God, you will find Him.

Bible Verses:

  • Luke 11:9-10 | Jesus instructs us to Seek.
  • Jeremiah 29:13 | God says that when we truly seek Him, we’ll find Him.
  • Deuteronomy 4:29 | When we search for God with our whole heart, we’ll find Him.
  • Psalm 105:4 | Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.
  • Hebrews 11:6 | God rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Family Time Questions:

  • What does it mean to “seek” God in our everyday life?
  • How can the Bible help guide us when we’re searching for God?
  • Why do you think it’s important to always seek the true God and not just any god?
  • How can we recognize God’s presence in places or situations outside of the Bible?
  • Why is it so special that God promises to be found when we seek Him?

Prayer:

“Dear God, help us to always search for You in our daily lives. Thank You for the promise that when we seek You with our whole heart, we’ll find You. Guide us in understanding Your word in the Bible and help us see You in the world around us. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
