It’s important that we choose our friends wisely. To “seek wise counsel” means to surround yourself with people who will give you good advice, not just go along with whatever you say. We all think that our ideas are great (they’re OUR ideas after all!) but sometimes our ideas are pretty terrible. We need godly people in our life who can help us to make the right decisions. We need to seek wise counsel.

Bible Verses About Seeking Wise Counsel:

  • Proverbs 12:15 | A wise person listens to advice.
  • Proverbs 14:12 | Not all of our ideas are good ideas…
  • 1 Corinthians 15:33 | Choose carefully the friends you take advice from.
  • Proverbs 13:20 | Have good friends to advise you.
  • Proverbs 1:8 | Get instruction from your parents.
  • Proverbs 19:20-21 | Hear advice and accept instruction.

Family Time Questions About Seeking Wise Counsel:

• What does it mean to seek wise counsel?

• Who can give us good advice?

• Why do we need to surround ourselves with people who give us good advice?

• How can we give better advice to our friends and family?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for always being there for me. Please help me surround myself with people who will give me good advice. And please help me to give wise advice myself. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
