Love is the most important part of anything that we do. If you’re a Christian, you probably want to do things great things for God. And that’s awesome. But, if what you do for God you do without love, then you’re completely missing the point of what God wants from you and for you.

Love is incredibly important to God, you’ll find it talked about throughout all of Scripture. 1 Corinthians 13 especially has a lot to say about love. It starts out by saying that without love we are nothing. You could be the best preacher in the world, you could be the most incredible Bible scholar, you could even die for Christ, but if you don’t love, it doesn’t matter. It’s like a pie with no filling! Everything else is secondary to love. All that stuff is good and important, but it doesn’t matter without love.

“Nothing Without Love” Bible Verses:

  • 1 Corinthians 13:1 | What if I speak like an angel without love?
  • 1 Corinthians 13:2 | What if I understand lots of things without love?
  • 1 Corinthians 13:3 | What if I give my stuff to others without love?
  • Mark 12:30-31  | Greatest commandments: love God and love others.
  • Colossians 3:14 | Love is the most important part of all.

Nothing Without Love” Family Time Questions:

  • What are the two greatest commandments?
  • Why do you think it’s so important that we love God and love our neighbor?
  • What are some ways that you can show God’s love to someone today?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your incredible love for me. Help me to never forget how important love is. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
