After God made mankind, they reached the point where their every thought was only evil all the time. This was true for everyone except for Noah, who honored God and walked with Him. God decided to destroy all life on earth, except for Noah, his family, and enough animals to repopulate the world. So God sent a flood unlike the world has ever seen or will ever see again. But God had instructed Noah to build an ark (a large boat) and God brought him two of every kind of animal to be safe in the ark with Noah’s family. The floodwaters covered even the mountaintops, and it took a long time (more than a year!) for Noah’s family and the animals to finally leave the ark. God sent a rainbow as a sign of His promise to never again destroy the world with a flood. The story of Noah’s Ark can help us learn about obeying God, even when it’s hard!
Bible Verses:
- Genesis 6:5-9:17 – Noah and the flood
Family Time Questions:
- Why is it so hard to do what’s right when everyone else is doing what’s wrong?
- What would have happened if Noah hadn’t obeyed God?
- How would you have felt if you had to live in the ark for more than a year with all those animals?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for loving us. Please help us to follow Noah’s example and walk with You even when it’s hard. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
