It’s surprising how often people will say, “I’m not good enough for Jesus.” As if Jesus only wants or loves people who are “good enough.” But that’s not how it works at all! If you believe in Jesus, He makes you a new creation. Your sins are forgotten forever and you have eternal life. Jesus didn’t die for you because you are good enough, He died for you because you aren’t, and He loves you anyway!

If you had a nasty, broken down car and someone offered to give you a brand new car, would you say, “No, you probably don’t want to give me a brand new car, my old car is terrible!”? Of course not! That person would want to give you a new car BECAUSE your old car is busted. Why would Jesus want to save you and make you a new creation if you were already perfect? No matter who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done, or what you’re like, Jesus loves you, He died for you, and He wants to help you be who you were always meant to be. So let’s believe in Jesus for salvation and then live like the new creations He has made us to be!

“New Creation” Bible Verses:

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 | New Creation
  • Romans 3:23 | Everyone in the world has sinned.
  • Romans 5:8 | God loves us anyway!
  • John 3:16 | God sent His son Jesus to die for our sins.
  • Romans 7:19 | Paul tells us of his own struggle with sin.
  • Acts 4:12 | We each need Jesus!

“New Creation” Family Time Questions:

  • Is there anyone who’s too “bad” for Jesus to change?
  • What does it mean to be a new creation?
  • What are some things that might not be fixed right away when we believe in Jesus?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for loving me even though I am a sinner. Help me to live like the new creation you made me when I believed in Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
