To hope for something often means that you wish it would happen, but you’re pretty sure it won’t. But that’s not what love looks like! As a Christian, to hope for something means to EXPECT it. When we hope for Jesus’ return, we don’t wish it would happen, we KNOW it will happen!

If you say, “I hope it doesn’t rain”, that usually means that you think that it will rain, but you wish it wouldn’t. But, in the Bible, to hope means that you’re sure of something even though it hasn’t happened yet. IF you are afraid, that means that you expect something bad will happen, but hope is the opposite of fear and perfect love drives away fear! God doesn’t want you to be fearful or to expect the worst. He wants you to know that He has a plan for your good! Godly love always hopes.

“Love Always Hopes” Bible Verses:

  • Romans 8:24-25 | Hope is believing in what you can’t see.
  • 1 John 14:18 | Love drives away fear.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:7 | Love always hopes.
  • Jeremiah 29:11 | Expect the best!

“Love Always Hopes” Family Time Questions:

• What does hope mean in the Bible?

• Why is hope the opposite of fear?

• What will Jesus do that He hasn’t done yet?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for being my Hope and my Salvation. Please help me to hope and not fear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
