Just because something (or someone) seems good, doesn’t mean that they are. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t trust anyone, just that you should be careful. Since we aren’t perfect, we can misunderstand, be tricked, or lied to. But God is never fooled, no matter how tricky something or someone may be. The sad truth is that there are people in this world who are dangerous and untrustworthy. And so we must be careful, listen to the godly adults God has placed in our lives, and read our Bibles so that we can be better at learning who and what to trust. It can be hard to discern what is true, but God would love to help!

“Looks Can be Deceiving” Bible Verses:

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7 | Trust God, not what you see
  • 1 John 4:1 | Don’t Trust everything you hear
  • Colossians 2:8 | Just because something sounds right doesn’t mean that it is right

“Looks Can be Deceiving” Family Time Questions:

• Is everyone trustworthy?

• What are some ways that you can stay safe in a world where looks can be deceiving?

• Where can we learn about truth? (The Bible)

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for always knowing what is true. Help me to be careful and to put my trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
