You don’t have to be ashamed if you have questions about God. It’s OK to ask questions, but don’t give up if you don’t get your answer right away! Many people fall away from the faith because they have questions that they don’t know the answer to. And that’s one of the saddest things ever! It doesn’t have to be that way. Our questions can bring us closer to God instead of pushing Him away.

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed.” Faith is believing in something you can’t see, and God wants us to have faith. That means that we might need to be OK with some unanswered questions. If we demand that God gives us answers in our own time, then we can end up falling away. But if we sincerely seek after truth and wisdom, we’re going to find God. Our God is the God of truth, and if we have doubts or questions or things we don’t understand, we can bring those to God and He will show us what’s right. We just might need a little patience!

Bible Verses About Asking Questions:

  • James 1:5 | It’s okay to ask God questions. He says so!
  • John 14:6 | Jesus is the truth and the way to God.
  • John 20:24-28 | Jesus shows Himself to Thomas.
  • John 20:29 | We are blessed for believing without seeing Him in person.
  • Romans 1:20 | We can see that He is God through what He has made.

Family Time Questions About Mercy:

  • Does it ever feel wrong to have questions about God? Why or why not?
  • Why should we never give up, even if we don’t have our answer yet?
  • How can questions bring us closer to God?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for hearing my prayers. Help me to seek after you, and to be patient for the answers that you might not give me right away. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
