Some say that the Bible is so old that it no longer applies to us. But the Bible is just as relevant and true today as it has ever been. Jesus says that God’s word will never pass away. The truth found in Scripture is universal. Good is still good, evil is still evil, God is still God.

The scariest thing about this argument against the authority of Scripture is that there are many people who say that they want to follow Jesus but also say that much of the Bible doesn’t apply to us because of how old it is. But this is not at all how Jesus treated Scripture. It makes sense for people who don’t believe in God to try and undermine the Bible, but, if we call ourselves Christians, we should hold fast to the Inspired Word of God. Times have changed, but the Truth found in Scripture has not.

Bible Verses:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16 | The Bible is God-breathed, useful, and good.
  • John 17:17 | The Bible is truth.
  • Ephesians 6:1-3 | Honor your father and mother and it will go well with you.
  • 2 Peter 1:21 | The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
  • Matthew 24:35 | Jesus said God’s Word will never pass away.

Family Time Questions:

Why do people not want the Bible to apply to them?

Why does the Bible still apply to us today?

• When will God’s words pass away? (Trick question, they never will!)

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us the Bible. Thank you that the bible is still useful and applicable to my daily life, even though it was written so long ago. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
