Does science disprove the Bible? Is the Bible just “useful fairy tales” with some questionable history sprinkled in? Absolutely not! Science can help point us to God (or away from Him if you want it to), but science is just the study of the natural world, and the Bible is filled with examples of God doing miraculous, unnatural things that science can never explain. The fact that you can’t scientifically study God doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist, it just means that He is above and beyond the natural world (and He’s never claimed to be anything less!).

Many people say that you can’t trust the Bible because it’s full of miracles, and miracles aren’t real because there’s a scientific explanation for everything. Well, there might be a scientific explanation for every natural thing, but science can say nothing one way or another about anything supernatural. Those who say that science disproves the Bible are merely saying that they don’t believe that there is anything beyond the natural world. You can’t prove that there’s nothing beyond the natural world by only studying the natural world. Science is great, but God is FAR greater. You can trust the Bible.

Bible Verses:

  • Genesis 1:28 | God told Adam and Eve to bring earth under their control.
  • Isaiah 42:5 | God is the Creator of all!
  • Psalm 19:1 | The heavens declare the glory of God.
  • Romans 1:20 | God’s divine nature can be seen through His creation.
  • Romans 14:11 | Someday every knee will bow to God.

Family Time Questions:

Why can’t science disprove the Bible?

• In what ways is science useful?

• Why can we trust that the miracles we read about in Scripture really happened?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us the Bible. Please help me to always have a loving answer for the hope that I have in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
