There are many things that we could be saved from: enemies, disasters, and all kinds of things! But the scariest thing that we need to be saved from (by far!) is our sin. The most important thing you could ever learn is how to be saved from your sin. Sin is anything that we do, say, or think, that goes against what is good. All sin has consequences, and the greatest consequence (or penalty) is that sin separates us from God.
God is perfect, holy, and good. No sin can be near Him. So, when we sin, whether it’s a “big” sin like murder or a “little” sin like stealing a candy bar, we are separated from God. If we stay separated from God, then we will have eternal death (an eternity separated from God). And no matter how many good things we do, we still can’t remove that sin. We need God to save us. And that’s exactly what He did! Jesus came to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could live forever with Him in heaven. All we have to do is believe that He will save us and He will!

  • Romans 3:23 | All have sinned.
  • Isaiah 59:2 | Sin separates us from God.

  • John 3:16 | The gift that brings everlasting life.

“How to Be Saved” Family Time Questions About:

  • What’s the most important thing we could ever be saved from?
  • Is there anyone who never sinned?
  • What do we need to do to be saved from our sins?

Prayer:

Dear God, you are holy and good. Thank you for paying the penalty for my sin. Help me to put my trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
