To hope for something doesn’t mean that you want something good to happen but you expect something bad to happen. Hope means that you both want and expect something good to happen. Put your hope in Jesus, He will never let you down!

Sometimes words change their meaning over time. And it seems like our idea of what “hope” means is slowly changing to mean pretty much the opposite of what it’s supposed to mean. When we see clouds and say, “I hope it doesn’t rain” most of the time we’re really saying, “I don’t want it to rain, but it probably will.” If that’s our idea of hope, then it can be really confusing when the Bible says that God is the God of hope, or that our hope is in Jesus. God is not the god of wishful thinking or futile dreams, our God (The One True God) is the God of fulfilled promises!

“Hope in Jesus” Bible Verses:

  • Romans 15:13 | God is the God of hope.
  • Daniel 9:4 | God keeps His promises.
  • Hebrews 10:23 | God is faithful.
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 | Trust God.
  • 1 John 5:13 | Believe God for eternal life.

“Hope in Jesus” Family Time Questions:

 What does “hope” mean?

• What does it mean to put your hope in Jesus?

 Why can we trust Jesus?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for being the God of hope. Help me to trust in you and to remember what it means to hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
