Douglas learned that if you can’t say something in front of your grandma, it might not be a good idea to say it at all. Douglas’ grandma is very fun, she loves to joke around and she has an amazing laugh. But one day, Douglas told her a joke that he heard at school, that was kind of a dirty joke, and she didn’t laugh at all. Douglas knew he shouldn’t be telling jokes like that, but it can be so hard to be good! It seems like no one will think that you are cool or funny unless you do bad things or say bad words. But God wants us to be good. And you don’t have to be bad to be cool or funny. Let’s do our best to fill our lives with goodness!

“Goodness” Bible Verses:

  • Galatians 5:22-23 | The Fruit of the Spirit
  • Ephesians 4:29 | Only use good words that build others Up
  • Romans 12:21 | “Overcome evil with good.”
  • Psalm 37:3 | “Trust in the Lord and do good”

“Goodness” Family Time Questions:

• Why do You think people think it’s cool to be bad?

• Why should we only use good words?

• Who decides what’s good or bad?

• What’s a good way to tell if something is good or bad?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your goodness Please help me to be good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
