Just because it seems like God is telling you to do something, that doesn’t necessarily mean that He actually is. It can often be really hard to know what God’s will is, what He wants for you and from you. Sometimes something will happen that seems like it can’t just be a coincidence, and we think, “God is trying to tell me something!” And the truth is, He might be! But we need to be really, REALLY careful about situations like that. In many cases, it’s easier to know what God’s will is NOT than knowing what God’s will IS. If you think that God wants you to do something that He has already told you not to do in Scripture, it’s not God’s will. Simple as that.

Bible Verses About About God’s Will:

  • Matthew 22:37-39 | God’s will is to love Him and others.
  • 1 Samuel 24:3-7 | Story of David and Saul in the cave.
  • Romans 6:12-14 | God’s will does not involve sinning.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17| Look in the Bible to know right from wrong.

Family Time Questions About God’s Will:

• What do we mean when we talk about “God’s Will”?

• Does God ever try to tell us something through our circumstances?

• What’s one way we can know what is not God’s will?

• What are some things that we know are God’s will for us?

• What are some things that we know are God’s will for us?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us Scripture. Please help me to know what your will is and what it is not. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
