Jesus came to the world to save us just like the prophecies said. But He didn’t do what people thought He would do. The Israelites expected a King who would act like an earthly king and fight and win battles the way the world fights. Instead, Jesus laid down his life. What looked like “losing” to the world was actually Jesus’ victory. On the night Jesus was betrayed, Peter took up a sword to stop Jesus from being taken, but Jesus told him to put it down. Just like Peter, we don’t want people to say bad things about Jesus, and it’s easy to want to fight the enemies of Christ the way the world fights. But we are to follow Christ’s example. We fight by spreading the good news of Jesus Christ with love and kindness. When we fight like the world fights, we lose. God’s way wins.

Bible Verses:

  • Matthew 26:50-54 – Peter lashes out
  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 – We don’t fight the way the world fights.
  • John 10:17-18 – Jesus laid His life down
  • Romans 12:21 – Overcome evil with good

Family Time Questions:

  • How does the world fight?
  • How did Jesus fight?
  • Why is God’s way so hard?
  • Why does God’s way win?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for saving us. Thank You for Your victory. Please help us to follow Your example, and not fight the way the world fights. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
