The Bible says that God comforts us like a mother comforts her child. Mother’s Day is a great day to think about and thank your mom (and the other godly women that God has placed in your life!) for showing you a part of what God’s love looks like. There’s just something different about a mother’s love. And that great feeling you have when you get a hug from mom is just a small taste of God’s love for you. The Bible says that God is our Father, but there are times and ways that He loves us and comforts us just like a mother comforts her child.

Bible Verses:

  • 1 John 3:1 | God is our Father.
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 | God has a comforting love for us.
  • Isaiah 66:13a | As a mother comforts her child . . .
  • Philippians 4:11-13 | We need God more than anyone or anything.

Family Time Questions:

  • Does the Bible call God our Father or our mother?
  • If God is our Father, how can He love us a like a mother loves her child?
  • What are some ways that our mothers can show us a part of God’s love for us?
  • How can you thank your mother (or the other godly women in your life) for showing you God’s love?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for my mother. And thank you for loving me like a good mother loves her child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
