When you put God first, everything makes a lot more sense. Being faithful pretty much means being loyal. Douglas thinks of himself as a loyal friend, and he wants his friends to be loyal too. But when his friend put Douglas in a position where he had to choose whether to be faithful to his friend or his parents, Douglas was really worried. He didn’t know what to do! But then he realized he was forgetting someone, we should be loyal to God first! When he remembered what God says about being honest and honoring your parents, he knew what he had to do. This world can be confusing, but when we put God first, everything else makes a lot more sense.

“Faithfulness” Bible Verses:

  • Galatians 5:22-23 | The Fruit of the Spirit
  • Proverbs 3:6 | “He will make your paths straight.”
  • Matthew 6:33 | Put God first
  • Luke 14:33 | Being a Christian means putting God first

“Faithfulness” Family Time Questions:

• What does it mean to be faithful (or loyal)?

• Why is it important to be loyal?

• If your friends, family, your own heart, and God all say different things, who should you listen to?

• Why would being faithful to God make you a more loyal friend?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your faithfulness. Please help me always be faithful to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
