The Greek and Hebrew words for, “angel” both mean, “messenger.” Angels had a very important part to play in the true story of Jesus’ birth. They brought messages about the coming of the Christ, the promised Messiah, to those who needed to hear them. Mary, Joseph, and a bunch of shepherds were all visited by angels explaining what God was doing. We can’t be angels (angels and humans are two very different creatures) but we can still be God’s messengers! We can tell everyone the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So be like the Christmas angels and share the very important message of what Christmas is all about!

Bible Verses:

  • Luke 1:26-31 – The angel Gabriel visits Mary
  • Matthew 1:20-21 – An angel appears to Joseph
  • Luke 2:8-14 – Angels announce to the shepherds
  • Hebrews 1:14 – Angels as ministering spirits
  • Matthew 28:19-20 – Share the Good News!

Family Time Questions:

  • What messages did the angels bring about Jesus’ birth?
  • Why can’t we become angels?
  • How can we be like angels?
  • How can we share the message of Jesus like the angels did?
  • What is the good news about Jesus that we can share during Christmas?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for sending angels to share the news of Jesus’ birth. Help us to be messengers like them, telling others about Jesus and His love. Let us remember the true meaning of Christmas and share it with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
