It’s never fun being picked last, but Douglas has learned that we were chosen by God (and He always picks us first!). Douglas had a hard day at school because he got picked last for dodgeball. He usually gets picked very early, since he’s good at catching the ball because he likes to be the goalie in soccer. But everyone found out that he can only pay attention to one ball at a time, and if he has more than one ball coming at him, he just freezes; so it’s actually easy to get him out if you just throw more than one ball at him! So now he gets chosen last, which hurts his feelings. But Douglas remembered something very important: we were chosen by God.

You are God’s favorite. We all are! God picks you first every time, and me too. That might not work in dodgeball, but it does in the Kingdom of God. You are God’s favorite you, and I am God’s favorite me. The Bible says that we are “God’s special possession,” and that He has called us to shine His light in this dark world. Let’s never forget that we are chosen by God!

“Chosen by God” Bible Verses:

  • 1 Peter 2:9 | God’s special possession
  • Ephesians 1:3-6 | He chose us in Him before the creation of the world
  • Deuteronomy 7:6 | The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be His people
  • Ephesians 2:19 | Part of God’s household

“Chosen by God” Family Time Questions:

• When did God choose you?

• How can we all be God’s favorite?

• What does God want us to do?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you so much for choosing me. Please help me to live the life that you have called me to. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
