You can choose to be happy, even when it doesn’t seem like you should be. It’s ok to be sad, but you don’t have to give in to despair, you can choose joy! There are times in our lives when we can be tempted to despair (despair is just sadness with no hope) but when we remember what Jesus has done for us, we can be happy even when we should normally be sad. We can choose joy.

Bible Verses About About Choosing Joy:

  • Psalm 94:19 | Even when I’m worried, I can have joy.
  • Romans 8:38 | Nothing can separate us from God’s love.
  • John 3:16 | Jesus came to save us from our sins.
  • James 1:2-4 | God can do much in us as we face trials with joy.

Family Time Questions About Choosing Joy:

• Is it ever ok to be sad?

• What’s the difference between being sad and despairing?

• What are some reasons that we can choose to be happy, even when we “should” be sad?

• What good things might come from choosing joy?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for all you have done for me. Help me to not give in to despair, but to choose joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
