The Bible is the most important book ever written. There are many reasons to trust the Bible, but there are also a lot of reasons why people say we can’t trust the Bible. This is the first video in an upcoming series called: “You Can Trust the Bible.” In this series, Douglas will talk about why we can trust the Bible and why the objections raised against the Bible don’t make sense.

The Bible is also called God’s Word, and that’s because all Scripture (which is everything in the Bible) is God-breathed, which means that it was directly inspired by God. And it’s all useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. And though God is, ultimately, the Author of all Scripture, the Bible is actually made up of 66 different books written by many different authors thousands of years ago. You can absolutely trust the Bible, but we have to be very careful with it. We need to know what the bible says as a whole, and not just pick the parts we like. When you learn and obey God’s Word, pretty incredible things can happen!

Bible Verses:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 | The Bible is God’s Word.
  • Matthew 4:4 | We are to live on every word from God.
  • Luke 4:1-13 | Jesus used Scripture to defeat Satan’s temptations.
  • Luke 11:28 | We are blessed by hearing AND obeying God’s Word.
  • John 17:17 | The Bible is true!

Family Time Questions:

 Who wrote the Bible?

• Why do we have to be careful when reading the Bible?

• Why can’t you just pick the parts of the Bible you like and leave the rest?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us the Bible. Help me to learn what you say in Scripture, and how to apply it to my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
