“That’s not fair!” Have you ever said that? We are always so quick to point out when we don’t get what we deserve unless, of course, we don’t get a punishment that we deserve, that’s totally OK with us! In Micah 6:8 it says that God wants us to do what is right (to do what is fair) and to love mercy (to be “unfair” and not always punish those who deserve it). If God, who is the Ultimate Judge, sent his one and only Son to die for us while we were still sinners, taking on the punishment that we deserved, surely we can be merciful too!

Bible Verses About Being Fair:

  • Micah 6:8 | What does the Lord require?
  • Matthew 18:21-35 | The parable of the unmerciful servant.
  • Romans 3:23 | Everyone has sinned.
  • Romans 5:8 | God’s mercy towards us.
  • Ephesians 4:10 | God calls us to be humble.

Family Time Questions About Being Fair:

  • Why is it good for things to be fair?
  • When are we happy that things aren’t fair?
  • How can we be fair in a good way and unfair in a good way?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you so much for your mercy and grace. Help me to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
