Sometimes kids get in really big fights over what’s real and what’s not real about Christmas. Is Santa real? What about flying reindeer or elves that live on shelves and tell Santa about what you’ve been doing this year? These sorts of questions are best answered by your parents, but here are a few important things to know:

  1. None of these things are in the Bible
  2. None of these things are what Christmas is all about
  3. The story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible is 100% real

God really sent His Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. Jesus really was born to the virgin Mary, he was really born in a stable, he really was placed in a manger, he really was visited by shepherds and wisemen, He really died for you and rose again from the dead. And if you believe in Him, you really will have eternal life. Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season, and He is really, really real.

Family Time Questions:

  • Have you ever seen people argue about what’s real about Christmas?
  • Who is Christmas all about?
  • What does the Bible say about Jesus’ birth?
  • Why did God send Jesus to earth?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for the incredible Gift of Your Son, Jesus. Please help us to always remember that He is the reason for the Christmas season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
