When Jesus first came to the world, many did not believe in Him because He did not at that time fulfill all of the prophecies about the Messiah. Jesus came to save us from our sins, but they expected Him to take over the world. The next time Jesus comes it will be to take us with him to heaven as He promised. And then it looks like, after the plagues of the Day of the Lord, He is coming a third time to reign forever and ever. Whether He comes twice more or only once more, He will come in His perfect timing and according to His perfect plan.
Bible Verses:
- Acts 1:11 – Jesus will return as he left
- John 14:3 – Jesus will take us to heaven
- Revelation 19:11-16 – Jesus’ return as King
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – Caught up with Christ
- 2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord’s patience
Family Time Questions:
- Why did some people not recognize Jesus as the Messiah during His first coming?
- What has Jesus promised about His second coming?
- How might the world be different when Jesus returns?
- What can we do to prepare for Jesus’ return?
- Why is it important to trust in God’s timing and plan?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank you for your plan for us and for the world. Please help us to honor you in how we live and we patiently wait for the second coming of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
