There is power in the name of Jesus. But it’s not so much about the name, Jesus, it’s about the one true God whose name is Jesus. Sometimes people treat Jesus’ name like it’s magic, as though by saying His name they can tap into some powerful force. But Jesus is not a force or a power; He’s God. And we don’t just get to use His name to get whatever we want. We need to treat Jesus’ name with great respect because we need to treat Jesus Himself with great respect. Because of who He is, there is power in the name of Jesus.

Bible Verses:

  • Philippians 2:9-11 – Name above every name
  • John 14:13-14 – Ask in Jesus’ name
  • Acts 19:13-17 – Seven sons of Sceva
  • Acts 2:21 – Call on the name of the Lord
  • Exodus 20:7 – Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain

Family Time Questions:

  • Why should we respect Jesus’ name?
  • What makes Jesus’ name so powerful?
  • Why isn’t Jesus’ name like “magic”?
  •  How can we honor Jesus’ name?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for being who You are. Please help us to honor Your name by honoring You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
