Douglas won his school’s science fair! But he wasn’t sure if he should be proud of what he did, or how he should respond to people when they complimented him. Isn’t it a sin to be proud? Well, the answer is “yes” and “no.” God wants us to work hard and be proud of the work that we do, but He doesn’t want us to think too much of ourselves or to forget who is truly worthy of all praise. The Bible says that if you are going to boast, boast about Jesus Christ!
Bible Verses About Pride:
- Galatians 6:4 | Don’t compare yourself to others
- Galatians 6:14 | If you boast, boast about Jesus
- Psalm 145:3 | God is worthy of all praise
- James 4:10 | Be humble
- Jeremiah 9:23-24 | Don’t boast About yourself
- Proverbs 16:18 | Pride goes before the fall
- Colossians 3:23 | Work hard
Family Time Questions About Pride:
• What’s something you’re good at?
• When is it wrong to be proud?
• Is it ever ok to brag or boast? (When is it ok to boast?)
• Is it wrong for God to be proud?
Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to work hard and to be proud of my work, but to never let it go to my head. Help me give you all the glory, for you are worthy of all praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
