It seems like we are always trying to outdo one another. If someone does something cool, we want to do something even better! Sometimes we even go so far as to try and badmouth others so we will seem better than them. But trying to lift yourself up by tearing others down never works. The Bible says that we should outdo one another, but we should outdo one another in showing honor. Instead of always trying to get people to pay attention to us, we should do whatever we can to honor and celebrate others. With the right attitude, it can be incredibly fun to look for ways to celebrate what makes other people awesome! Outdo one another in showing honor.
Bible Verses:
- Romans 12:10 – Outdo one another in giving honor
- Philippians 2:3 – Consider others more important than yourself
- 1 Peter 2:17 – Honor others
- James 4:10 – Humble yourself
- Proverbs 27:2 – Don’t praise yourself
Family Time Questions:
- Why is it so hard to honor others?
- What are some ways that we can celebrate others?
- What good things can happen when we uplift others instead of trying to uplift ourselves?
Prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for Your goodness to us. Please help us to outdo one another in showing honor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
