The Old Covenant between God and Mankind (sometimes called the Mosaic Covenant, named after Moses) included all sorts of blessings if God’s people obeyed His Law, and all sorts of curses if they did not. We were not able to keep God’s covenant, and God knew this. He spoke of a New Covenant, one where He would remember our sins no more. Jesus perfectly fulfilled the Old Covenant (He never sinned) and instead of reaping the rewards that He deserved, He took on our penalty, the curses that we deserve, onto Himself. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, our sins can be forgiven. And if we believe in Him, we will have eternal life.
