In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus said that we should love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. But in Deuteronomy, it says, “Heart, soul, and strength”,  in the Gospel of Matthew it says, “Heart, soul, mind”, and in the Gospel of Luke it says, “Heart, soul, strength, and mind.” Which one is right? And what do they mean? The short answer is that they’re all right! And they all say to love the Lord your God with everything you’ve got.

Bible Verses:

  • Mark 12:30 | Love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • Deuteronomy 6:5 | Love God with your heart, soul, and strength.
  • Matthew 22:37 | Love God with your heart, soul, and mind.
  • Luke 10:27 | Love God with your heart, soul, strength, and mind.

Family Time Questions:

  • What do you think it means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength?
  • Why do you think the Bible mentions these different ways of loving God?
  • How can we show our love for God in our daily lives?
  • What’s one way you want to show your love for God this week?

Prayer:

“Dear God, help us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Teach us what that looks like in our daily lives. We want to give You our very best, and to show our love for You in everything we do. Thank you for always loving us first. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
