So many of the terrible fights that we have with our loved ones happen over nothing! But it’s not really “nothing.” It’s usually stuff that we’ve saved up for a long time until we can’t take it anymore and then we finally explode!  We need to talk things through instead of bottling them up. Godly love keeps no record of wrongs.

It might seem like a good idea to just “get over it” when someone does something that makes you mad, and that probably is a good idea, but if you can’t let it go then you need to talk about it. We don’t like conflict, so we try to avoid “making a big deal” of things. But, if it’s a big enough deal to remember, then it’s a big enough deal to talk about. And, if you talk about issues when they come up, then you can avoid having giant fights over tiny things! God doesn’t want us to hold on to grudges, He wants us to talk through our problems. Godly love keeps no record of wrongs.

“Love Keeps No Record of Wrongs” Bible Verses:

  • Ephesians 4:32 | Let go of things that make you mad.
  • Matthew 5:39 | Turn the other cheek.
  • Ephesians 4:25 | Be honest with others.
  • Matthew 7:12 | Treat others as you want to be treated.
  • Ephesians 4:15 | Speak the truth in love.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:5 | Love keeps no record of wrongs.

“Love Keeps No Record of Wrongs” Family Time Questions:

• When should you just “let it go” when someone hurts your feelings?

• What should you do if you can’t let it go?

• What usually happens when you keep a record of wrongs?

• Why does God not want you to keep a record of wrongs?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for your kindness towards me. Please help me to talk things through when I’m upset instead of keeping a record of wrongs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
