There is so much happening in this life. It’s hard not to get overwhelmed. We could all benefit from taking a breath and remembering that God’s got this. When Jesus walked on water, Peter tried walking out to him. Peter was fine for a while until he started noticing the wind and the waves, then he got scared and started to sink. When we are going through hard times, we need to turn our eyes toward Jesus. Our problems might feel too much for us to handle, but nothing is too big for God. And He loves us very much. Set your mind on things above, not what’s here on earth. Change your perspective and look up.

Bible Verses:

  • Colossians 3:1-2 – Set your mind on things above
  • Matthew 14:22-33 – Walking on water
  • Hebrews 12:1-2 – Look to Jesus
  • 2 Corinthians 4:18 – Look to what is unseen
  • Psalm 46:10a – Be still and know

Family Time Questions:

  • Do you ever feel overwhelmed?
  • Why did Peter start to sink?
  • What should he have done instead?
  • What can we do when we feel overwhelmed?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for loving us and for being able to handle anything. Please help us to look to you and know that you’ve got this. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
