The Bible says that God loves us and disciplines us like a father disciplines his son. What’s best for us is rarely easy. Just like our earthly fathers, our Heavenly Father wants to help us to live to our full potential. And if we want to be brave and strong and be who God has called us to be, then we’re going to have to go through hard times. We need discipline. God can take even the worst situations and turn them around for our good. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but the results are absolutely worth it. Our earthly fathers and Heavenly Father love us and want what’s best for us. Listen to your dad.
Bible Verses:
- Hebrews 12:6-7 – Discipline shows God’s love.
- Proverbs 3:11-12 – Embrace correction.
- Romans 8:28 – Good from all situations.
- James 1:3-4 – Testing develops perseverance.
Family Time Questions:
- How does God’s discipline show His love for us?
- Why is it important to listen to our earthly fathers and our Heavenly Father?
- What are some ways that discipline helps us grow?
- How can difficult experiences be used by God for our good?
- What role does faith play in understanding and accepting discipline?
Prayer:
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us enough to discipline us. Help us to see Your hand in our challenges and to learn and grow from them. Teach us to listen to the wisdom of our earthly fathers and especially to Yours, trusting that You want the best for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
