If you believe in Jesus Christ, you have eternal life. This means that you have been justified. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, you have been declared righteous in spite of your sin. But that doesn’t mean that sin isn’t sin. There are still consequences for sin, even if you have eternal life. Through faith in Christ, you have avoided God’s wrath, you do not have to spend an eternity apart from God and you will go to heaven when your life on earth is over. But God’s wrath is still poured out on sin. Sin always ruins things. And though Christ has declared you righteous, He can also help you to do what is righteous. Justification comes from Christ alone.

Bible Verses:

  • Romans 2:23-26 – You have been justified
  • 2 Corinthians 5:10 – A kind of judgment is still coming
  • Romans 1:18  – God’s wrath against sin
  • Philippians 3:9 – Righteousness from God

Family Time Questions:

  • What does it mean that you have been justified by faith in Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die for your sins?
  • What must you do to have eternal life?
  • Why should we do what is right, even though we have been justified?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank you for granting us justification through faith in Jesus. Help us to follow you and do what is righteous. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
