God has blessed us in so many ways. Unfortunately, sometimes we get so focused on the gifts that we forget about the Giver of all good things! After Jesus rose again from the dead, He appeared to His disciples several times. One time the disciples were fishing and Jesus appeared to them on the shore after a night of catching nothing. Jesus told them to put their nets on the right side of the boat and when they did they caught almost more fish than they could handle. As soon as John said, “It’s the Lord!” Peter jumped right out of the boat and swam to Jesus. Peter knew what was most important, it wasn’t the good things they were given but the Giver of all good things! We should absolutely be grateful for God’s blessings, but we must remember that Jesus matters most.

Bible Verses:

  • John 21:1-14 – Jesus appears to the disciples
  • Luke 10:38-42 – Mary and Martha
  • Luke 17:11-19 – Jesus heals ten lepers
  • Matthew 6:33 – Seek first the kingdom of God

Family Time Questions:

  • What are some ways that God has blessed you?
  • Does God want us to enjoy the blessings He’s given us?
  • How can blessings sometimes get in the way?
  • What are some ways we can show God our gratitude?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank you for all that you have given us. Help us to remember to keep our eyes on you, the Giver of all good things. We love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
