Everyone seems to have their own “truth”, but only God’s truth is actually, perfectly true. If Douglas thinks he’s faster than his dad and his dad thinks he’s faster than Douglas, one of them is right and one of them is wrong. A simple test (like a race between the two of them) can prove which one of them is right and which is wrong. Testing like this is basically what science is: proving or disproving a theory or hypothesis through experimentation and observation. But even scientific “truth” isn’t actually truth. Science is constantly disproving itself; much of what was once considered scientific fact is now considered ridiculous. Only God knows and understands everything. What we say is true is simply our opinions and theories. What God says is true is the real truth. Jesus is the truth.

(The scientific experiment mentioned in this video, sometimes called the “Redi Experiment”, was conducted by Francesco Redi in 1668.)

Bible Verses:

  • John 14:6 – The Way, the Truth, and the Life
  • Psalm 147:5 – God’s understanding is beyond measure
  • Colossians 2:3 – In Jesus is hidden all knowledge
  • 1 Corinthians 8:2 – We don’t fully know like we ought to

Family Time Questions:

  • Is everyone’s “truth” really true?
  • What are some ways we can find which “truth” is more true?
  • Why is Jesus the truth?
  • Where can we find God’s truth?

Prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for being the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Please help us to better learn and understand your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
